After another energy-sapping 90 minutes of football, Mamelodi Sundowns won 3-2 on penalties against Yanga.

The game was the true definition of a fierce clash with both teams determined to clinch victory.

Sundowns played their normal possessive football with the view to trying to let the much-determined Yanga chase shadows. Yanga remained unshaken and unbreakable as they played their normal game and limited the Brazilians to fewer opportunities.

There was a very huge controversial moment in the second half when Burkinabe forward Aziz Ki’s effort kissed the bottom of the crossbar and beat the line but VAR declared that the ball didn’t cross the line much to the disappointment of Yanga players and the officials.

Yanga after the disappointing moment went ahead and enjoyed their normal game by showing how fearless they are.

The game ended 0-0 in the 90 minutes as a penalty shootout was required to separate the two teams.

The away goal rule is effective in CAF Competitions but there is no extra time so the game went straight to a penalty shootout.

Gaston Sirino missed while Allende Bravo, Lucas Costa and Neo Maema scored for Mamelodi Sundowns.

For Yanga, Aziz Ki missed the first, Job Dickson missed the third and Ibrahim Hamad missed the 5th while Okrah and Gnadou scored for Yanga.

Yanga will feel extremely excited as they will come back stronger next season.
