Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has spoken highly of Thomas Partey, calling him a key part of his team as discussions about a new contract continue.
“He’s a starter for us. He’s the player who’s played the most minutes in his position,” Arteta said, showing how important the Ghanaian midfielder is to the team.
Partey has faced injury problems this season, and his absence was felt during one of Arsenal’s most crucial matches. “For the biggest game of the season we didn’t have him but Rice did a great job,” Arteta noted, referring to the performance of Declan Rice as a replacement.
Now that Partey is back from injury, Arteta is happy to have more strength in midfield again. “Now we have him back so more options,” he added.
The club is still working on a possible contract extension for the 30-year-old, whose current deal is set to expire soon. With Arteta’s public support, it’s clear that Partey remains an important part of Arsenal’s future plans.
