Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has expressed strong support for Thomas Partey’s contract extension, highlighting the midfielder’s fitness and consistency as key reasons behind the club’s confidence in his future.

Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s final game of the 2024–25 season against Southampton, Arteta commended Partey for maintaining a high level of performance and availability throughout the campaign.

“In regard to Thomas [Partey], consistency-wise, it’s been his best season,” Arteta told the media. “I think the way he’s played, performed, his availability has been exceptional and he’s a really important player for us. Yeah (I want him to stay).”

The Ghanaian international, who has faced injury setbacks in previous seasons, has enjoyed his most uninterrupted run since joining Arsenal. He has made 51 appearances in all competitions—his highest tally in a single season at the club—and contributed four goals along with three assists.

Partey’s turnaround this season has not gone unnoticed, with the club now viewing him as a crucial part of their future plans. His sustained fitness and consistent impact have strengthened Arsenal’s desire to retain him as they prepare to bolster their squad ahead of the next campaign.
