Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko have named club legend Malik Jabir as their new Technical Director as part of ongoing restructuring efforts within the club.
The Porcupine Warriors recently announced changes to their Interim Management Committee (IMC), with head coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum stepping down from his IMC duties to concentrate fully on his coaching responsibilities.
The directive, sanctioned by the club’s Life Patron, His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and the Manhyia Palace, aims to provide Ogum with the focus needed to achieve the club’s sporting ambitions.
In a bid to bolster their technical team, the IMC appointed Malik Jabir to support Dr. Ogum in guiding the team to success.
Coach James Kwesi Appiah who recently held the position will remain as a member of the club’s management team.
The move is part of broader efforts to address the team’s inconsistent performances this season, which included a five-game winless streak in the Ghana Premier League.
However, the Porcupine Warriors showed signs of resurgence over the weekend, defeating Aduana Stars 2-0 at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park to end their drought.
Asante Kotoko currently sits 7th in the Ghana Premier League standings with 18 points after 12 matches, as they aim to climb higher under their restructured technical leadership.
