Asante Kotoko’s recent dismal performance in the Ghana Premier League has left players, including captain Danlad Ibrahim, tossing and turning at night, unable to escape the weight of their struggles.

Ibrahim described the situation as “very, very bad,” as the club continues to suffer without a win in their last seven matches, plummeting from title contenders to just three points above the relegation zone.

The unrest reached a boiling point when fans disrupted a training session, demanding the dismissal of Coach Ogum after management refused to meet their demands.

In response, a crucial meeting convened at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on Thursday, where club owner Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II called for calm and expressed confidence in Coach Ogum’s leadership.

Players, including Ibrahim, took responsibility for the team’s struggles, acknowledging the toll it has taken on their morale and sleep patterns.

“We would first like to apologize to our supporters because we know they don’t deserve this type of result and the turmoil within the team. However, we want to assure them that we will do whatever it takes to turn things around,” Ibrahim said.

He added, “It’s very, very bad because many of us cannot even sleep, considering what we want to achieve for Asante Kotoko and our careers; these results don’t reflect positively upon us as the playing body. We understand that such occurrences come with the job, but all we need to do is to change things around now, focus, and work harder. Otherwise, it might get worse.”

With a determination to reverse their fortunes, Ibrahim and his teammates are gearing up for a crucial showdown against league leaders Samartex on Sunday, April 21, aiming to reignite their season and appease their restless minds.
