Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has shouldered full responsibility for his team’s elimination from the Ghana FA Cup competition following a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Karela United in the Round of 16.
Expressing remorse for the outcome, Ogum pledged to bounce back and compete fiercely for the Ghana Premier League title.
“I take full responsibility for our exit from the FA Cup. The team’s performance fell short of the high expectations of our loyal supporters,” he conveyed.
“We apologize for the letdown and remain committed to returning stronger to challenge for the Ghana Premier League,” he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The match took place at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium, witnessing a competitive first half between the Premier League clubs, although neither managed to score.
However, Karela United seized control in the second half, netting two goals to secure their spot in the FA Cup quarterfinals. Solomon Aboagye opened the scoring just two minutes after halftime, followed by Giyas sealing the victory in the 65th minute.
