Asante Kotoko coach, Prosper Ogum, has expressed his delight at the return of Kwame Poku, describing the 27-year-old striker as a tremendous player who will bring added quality to the team.
Kotoko have faced difficulties in front of goal this season, scoring just 10 goals in 12 league games, which highlighted the need for a fresh attacking option. The club identified Poku as a potential solution and reached an agreement to bring him back.
Poku had been a free agent for some time and had been training with the club in recent weeks.
Ogum believes that the striker’s time abroad in Algeria and Morocco has significantly sharpened his skills and added valuable experience.
“Kwame is a player who has grown tremendously since his first spell here. His time in Algeria and Morocco has sharpened his skills and added to his experience. He’s a proven goal scorer and creator, and I’m confident he will bring a lot of quality to our squad,” Ogum said.
Poku first made his mark with Kotoko in the 2020/21 season, scoring six goals and providing three assists in just 16 appearances, which earned him moves to USM Alger and Olympique Khouribga. His return is expected to bolster the team’s attacking strength as they push for success.
