Asante Kotoko SC and Medeama SC will represent Ghana in the 2024 Capital City Africa Cup in Washington, DC, USA, according to media report.

The two clubs will merge their squads to form a single team for an international friendly against Major League Soccer’s (MLS) DC United. This much-anticipated match is set to take place on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Audi Field in Washington, DC.

The game is part of a broader initiative organized by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) and the Ghana Football Association (GFA), as part of Ghana Week DC 2024. The event will celebrate Ghanaian culture and heritage in the United States from October 7-12, with the friendly match as one of the major highlights.

Originally, Asante Kotoko was scheduled to be the sole representative for this match. However, visa complications prevented most of the Kotoko players from securing entry into the US. Medeama SC, who participated in the same ceremonial match last year and has players with valid US visas, has now joined forces with Kotoko to ensure Ghana’s representation.

The combined squad of Kotoko and Medeama players will depart for the United States on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, in preparation for this high-profile encounter.
