Asante Kotoko are close to completing the signing of Ivorian-born Burkinabè defensive midfielder Abdul Kadri after the player impressed head coach Eric Tinkler and technical director Stanley Menzo during training sessions.
The defensive midfielder has convinced the Kotoko technical team of his quality, with the club now working on completing the necessary documentation before officially announcing the transfer.
Kadri’s arrival is expected to strengthen the Porcupine Warriors’ midfield department as they prepare for the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season, with coach Tinkler looking to build a competitive squad capable of challenging for major honours.
Known for his defensive discipline, ball-winning ability and physical presence in midfield, Kadri fits the profile of the type of player Kotoko have been targeting to add balance and competition to their squad.
The midfielder’s ability to break up opposition attacks, cover space and support build-up play is expected to provide more options in the centre of the pitch.
Although detailed career statistics for Kadri are limited, his performances during his assessment period with Kotoko were enough to earn approval from the club’s technical leadership.
The paperwork process is currently being finalized, and once completed, Abdul Kadri will become one of Asante Kotoko’s latest recruits ahead of their new campaign under South African coach Eric Tinkler.
