Asante Kotoko, the reigning champions of the Ghana Premier League, showcased their superiority as they convincingly defeated lower-tier team Sporting Time 4-1 in a friendly match held at Adako Jachie Park on Thursday.
The purpose of the friendly game was to aid Coach Abdul Gazale’s team in their preparations for their upcoming league fixture against Karela United FC in week 32 of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League. The match is scheduled to take place on Monday, May 29, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Right from the start, Asante Kotoko displayed their attacking prowess and took control of the game. Goals from their captain, Richard Boadu, as well as Enoch Morrison, Clinton Opoku, and Sarfo Taylor, highlighted their dominance. The collective effort of the players secured a resounding victory for the Porcupine Warriors.
Although Sporting Time, the visiting team, managed to score a consolation goal from a penalty in the dying stages of the game, it did not pose a significant challenge to Asante Kotoko’s dominant performance.
After a convincing 3-1 win against Kotoku Royals earlier in the week, Asante Kotoko reclaimed the fourth position in the league standings, accumulating a total of 47 points from 31 games.
These back-to-back wins will undoubtedly boost their confidence as they prepare to face Karela United in their upcoming match.
