On Sunday, August 27, Asante Kotoko will engage in a pair of pre-season friendly matches at Beposo to further hone their preparations for the upcoming football season.
Starting at 8:00 AM, the Porcupines will face off against Kharis Soccer Academy, a team owned by club legend Opoku Nti. Following that, at 10:00 AM, they will compete against Cornerstone at the Dr K.K Sarpong Stadium.
These matches have been organized to fine-tune the team’s strategies and evaluate their readiness for the forthcoming season. The initial friendly match presents a valuable opportunity for the players to demonstrate their skills and coordination against a competitive adversary.
It also enables coach Prosper Narteh Ogum to gauge player performance, pinpoint areas that necessitate improvement, and experiment with diverse tactical setups.
Equally significant is the second friendly match, which permits the team to implement adjustments and enhancements based on observations from the first game. Additionally, it provides players who may not have participated in the initial match the chance to showcase their abilities and vie for inclusion in the starting lineup.
While these pre-season friendly matches do involve results, they are equally focused on the process of crafting a united and competitive team. They provide a pivotal platform for the coaching staff to analyze individual player displays, assess teamwork dynamics, and evaluate the squad’s overall fitness levels. These matches also foster team chemistry and heighten familiarity with each other’s playing styles.
