Match: Kotoko v Bibiani Gold Stars
Kick-off: 6 PM
Date: Wednesday 8th October
Venue: Baba Yara Sports Stadium
Live TV Scheduled: TV3, Onua TV, Adesa +

Asante Kotoko will host reigning champions Bibiani Gold Stars in a rescheduled Ghana Premier League fixture that was postponed due to both teams’ participation in the CAF inter-club competitions.

The Porcupine Warriors, after the sweet victory against Kwara United in Nigeria, drew goalless against the dangerous Heart of Lions in week 4 last Sunday at the Kumasi Sports Stadium.

The draw was disappointing to the fans as they needed a victory to close the gap at the top of the table.

Playing at home again at Baba Yara, Kotoko will look forward to returning to winning ways.

Head coach Karim Zito’s side looked so sharp against Heart of Lions and will likely win against the defending champions if they can show the same attitude under the floodlights on Wednesday night

Gold Stars, on the other hand, will enter the match with a victory at Sweduru All Blacks and will be in full confidence.

After a disappointing exit from the CAF Champions League in their debut campaign, where they were smashed 7-0 on aggregate by Algerian side JS Kabylie.

The defending champions will be keen to avoid defeat in Oseikrom. The club announced Maxwell Konadu as the new head coach of the club on Tuesday, and it remains unknown whether he will lead them to the trip to Kumasi.

Caretaker coach Amankwah, who lost 5-0 in Algeria, redeemed himself with a win at Sweduru and will dream of another one in Kumasi if given the nod to lead the club.

Head-to-head

10 games have been played in total since 2021. Asante Kotoko have recorded five wins, while Gold Stars have recorded 2 wins. Three draws have been recorded.

Kotoko have scored 14 goals while Gold Stars have scored six goals.
