Aduana Stars Communications Director, Evans Oppong, has conceded defeat to rivals Asante Kotoko following their 2-0 loss at the Nana Agyemang Park during matchday 12 of the Ghana Premier League last Sunday.
Goals from defender Patrick Asiedu and forward Albert Amoah secured all three points for the Porcupine Warriors, leaving Aduana Stars reeling from yet another setback in their campaign.
In an interview with Kessben FM, Oppong expressed his disappointment: “I will congratulate Kotoko for this victory, but honestly, I am not happy. Kotoko is one of our biggest rivals in football, and I believe they were better than us and deserved the win. We’ve let the people of Dormaa down. It is an unfortunate result because that is not the outcome we expected.”
The defeat marked the final blow for head coach Yaw Acheampong, who has parted ways with Aduana Stars after a dismal start to the season. Under Acheampong’s tenure, the Fire Boys managed just two wins, six draws, and four losses in their opening 12 matches, leaving them 13th on the league table with 12 points.
Aduana Stars will now look to regroup under new leadership as they aim to climb out of the lower half of the standings in the ongoing Ghana Premier League campaign.
