Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has spoken out about the club’s transfer strategy for the upcoming season, indicating that they will not repeat the mistake of signing numerous lower-tier players like they did last year.
The Ghana Premier League-winning coach explained that the team needs to make significant changes to their playing body by signing players who have experience in the Premier League.
According to Ogum, Kotoko will be focusing on signing players who have already cut their teeth in the top flight, rather than relying on untested players from lower divisions.
This change in approach comes after the club released 18 players, with 11 let go on Tuesday and 7 on Wednesday.
“We need to do a lot of structural changes in the playing body with respect to signing of some players to come to augment,” Ogum said.
“This time, not players from lower divisions, but players who have seen it in the Premier League. So these are basically some of the things that we need to also do.”
