Ghana goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi has emphasised that unity, collective effort, and strong team spirit are the foundation of the Black Stars’ approach as they prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
He stressed that the squad is not relying on individual brilliance, but rather on togetherness and mutual support within the camp as they build momentum ahead of the tournament.
Ati-Zigi noted that the players are maintaining a positive atmosphere during preparations, with strong cohesion between senior players and younger members of the squad.
He further highlighted that the team’s mindset is built on fighting for one another at all times, insisting that this unity is what gives the group confidence going into major competition.
According to him, “This is what we like and this is what we want to keep up. We want to take this positive energy into the games.”
He added that, “The strength is fighting for each other and being there as a team. Playing as a team and not just as individuals.”
He further explained that, “You can see everyone is fighting for each other. We support each other and we help each other by encouraging the young ones to keep going and to always give their best.”
Ati-Zigi also reflected on the nature of football and the importance of resilience within the group, saying, “These are moments that happen in football where you have bad moments and sometimes you don’t qualify. For us, the biggest moment is now.”
