Baffour Gyan, the brother of former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan, has entered the fray to shape the narrative surrounding the annulment of the ex-footballer’s marriage with his ex-wife.
This development follows the recent Accra High Court ruling in the legal dispute between Asamoah Gyan and his former partner, Gifty Gyan. Baffour argues that the annulment is a victory for them, as it followed Asamoah Gyan’s petition to the court to invalidate the marriage.
Baffour also emphasized that the court’s decision confirmed, through a DNA test, Asamoah Gyan’s paternity of all three children born to Gifty Gyan. He explained that the court, presided over by Hafisata Ameleboba JA, ruled that Gifty was entitled to a share in Asamoah Gyan’s property, which includes a house in the United Kingdom, a 4-bedroom house in Spintex, Accra, a gas station, and two vehicles.
However, Baffour clarified that these properties were already allocated to her before their 2013 marriage.
In an audio statement, Baffour Gyan, the Ghanaian former professional footballer, asserted that all the assets transferred to Gifty Gyan were already registered in her name.
“It’s our victory… the court ordered Asamoah Gyan to give the property that was already in Gifty’s name. No new properties were added,” Baffour Gyan remarked.
Discussing the DNA results on Asempa FM, Baffour elaborated that their request for a DNA test stemmed from evidence that Gifty had a prior legal marriage before her union with Asamoah Gyan.
