Austin FC coach Josh Wolff has praised Ghanaian winger Osman Bukari for his impressive debut performance in the Major League Soccer match against Charlotte FC on Sunday.
Bukari, who joined the club from Red Star Belgrade in Serbia this summer, started the match and played 58 minutes, making his first appearance for Austin.
Wolff highlighted Bukari’s contribution to the team, despite not having had a preseason with the squad.
“I think Buka (Osman Bukari), again, has some qualities that are going to unbalance. I think right away he gave some change of speed, he certainly got around the corner a couple of times and I think Gyasi (Zardes) is on the end of it, if he takes it well, it’s a fantastic start to the game but all in all I thought he did well.”
Wolff also expressed his optimism about Bukari’s potential to make an impact on the team as he becomes more familiar with the group and vice versa.
“I think the more he gets familiar with the group and the more the group gets familiar with him and kind of his unique qualities, the better it will be.”
Bukari is set to feature in Austin’s next game on July 27 in the Leagues Cup, where he will look to build on his promising debut performance.
