Austria Lustenau sign striker Asumah Abubakar

SC Austria Lustenau have strengthenrd their squad with the catpture of Ghanaian striker Asumah Abubakar in the ongoing Winter transfer window

The 28-year-old joins the Austrian second-tier outfit until the end of the season and is expected to play a huge role for the club.

The former FC Luzern attacker joins the Planet Pure Stadion outfit as a free agent after severing ties with Maltese Premier League club Birkirkara FC in the recent window.

”The ink is dry, SC Austria Lustenau’s new attacking player has landed on the Rhine. The Green-Whites have made a move in the transfer market, strengthening their squad with Portuguese striker Asumah Abubakar.” Wrote the club.

Meanwhile, the Ghanaian international has expressed joy after securing a move to the club, while promising to give his all to the club.

“I’m happy to be here now. I’ve come to strengthen the team and will give everything to achieve our shared goals. I’m looking forward to the team, the club, and especially the fans.” Abubakar said after signing for the new club.

The club’s Sporting Director Dieter Alge, however, expressed his excite,ment the signing of the experienced striker, saying: “We are very pleased to have signed an experienced striker like Abu for our club. He brings not only quality and a goal threat, but also valuable experience that will help our team both on and off the pitch,”

Asumah has a vast experience in the various divisions across Europe having taken in spells with Grasshoppers Zurich, FC Luzern, FC Lugano, Brisbane Roar and  SC Kriens in his football career.

After playing for the Portugal U19 youth team, the Kumasi-born native still remains fit to play for Ghana senior national team on the international stage.
