Auxerre midfielder Elisha Owusu has set his sights on a return to the Ghana national team as the Black Stars push through the decisive stages of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The 27-year-old has been absent from recent call-ups due to injury setbacks, but he insists he is fully committed to reclaiming his spot in Otto Addo’s squad.
“I want to be in the team for the World Cup Qualifiers. I will do my maximum to be in the team,” Owusu told Flashscore, stressing his determination to contribute to Ghana’s campaign.
Currently, the Black Stars sit top of Group I with 15 points from six matches, holding the edge over closest rivals Comoros and Madagascar. The standings place Ghana in a strong position as the qualifying series enters its final stretch.
The September international break will be pivotal. Ghana face Chad away in N’Djamena on September 4 at the Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno, before returning home to host Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 8. Victories in these fixtures could all but secure the Black Stars’ ticket to the 2026 World Cup.
