Crystal Palace Football Club have dismissed their manager Patrick Vieira after a string of poor results, including a 12-match winless run.
Palace’s latest defeat was a 1-0 loss to Brighton in the Premier League, their third consecutive loss. The team has not won a match in 2023 and is currently in 12th place, only three points above Bournemouth in 18th place.
Chairman Steve Parish expressed regret about the decision but stated that it was necessary to ensure the club’s Premier League status. Vieira, a former French international footballer, was appointed before the start of the 2021-22 season and led the Eagles to a 12th-placed finish. However, this season the team has struggled to score goals, with only 21 goals in 27 games.
Three members of Vieira’s coaching staff have also left the club. The process of appointing a new manager is currently underway. Palace’s next match is against Arsenal, Vieira’s former club. The team’s final 10 games of the season will see them play all eight of their relegation rivals.
