Chris Hughton, the newly-appointed coach of Ghana’s national football team, the Black Stars, has arrived in Ghana for his official launch next week. He was spotted at the funeral of Christian Atsu, which is currently ongoing at the Forecourt of the State House in Accra.
Hughton, who is 64 years old, had been around the senior national team for some time before finally being appointed as the new head coach last month, replacing Otto Addo who left after the 2022 World Cup.
Hughton’s unveiling had to be rescheduled due to the recent death of his father, who was laid to rest in the UK a few days ago. However, he has now sorted out all family emergencies and has announced his 25-man squad who will regroup soon to begin preparations for the 2023 AFCON qualifier against Angola later this month.
The former Newcastle United and Brighton manager is expected to arrive at the Kotoka International Airport by the end of tomorrow and will head to Kumasi for his official unveiling on Monday, March 20. Ghana will face the Black Antelopes on March 23 in Kumasi for the first leg, with the return encounter set to take place in Luanda four days later.
