Nigeria will be without Everton forward Alex Iwobi for their March’s 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying playoffs against the Black Stars of Ghana after the player was red-carded during their Africa Cup of Nations exit.
The Super Eagles were beaten 1-0 by Tunisia in their round of 16 tie.
Youssef Msakni’s strike in the second half was what gave the African’s side a win over the West African country.
Alex Iwobi was introduced in the 59th minute but got sent off seven minutes later after a VAR review upgraded a yellow card to a red.
Ghana who also exited the AFCON tournament after losing its final group game against Comoros, will also be without their captain Andre Ayew who was red-carded in the decisive game.
The two legs of the 2022 World Cup playoffs will be played between 23-29 March, 2022.
Ghana will first host Nigeria in Kumasi before they later travel to Abuja for the reverse fixture.
