Italy-born Ghanaian teenage talent Justin Kumi has attracted the attention of a number of clubs around Europe, with teams like Barcelona and PSV interested in the Sassuolo youngster.
The 18-year-old midfielder has been impressed with the Neroverdi Primavera squad since making his debut last season, having progressed up their youth system.
Sassuolo picked up Kumi from Serie D outfit Giorgione Jun in the summer of 2018 and have been impressed with his development, handing him a three-year contract last summer.
TMW reports that Kumi’s impressive work with the Sassuolo Primavera side this season has seen him attract the attention of clubs including SC Freiburg, Barcelona and PSV.
The interested parties are keeping a close eye on the talented teenager and could look to make a move for him in the summer.
Meanwhile, Kumi who was handed his first pro contract in August last year by the Italian club, has confirmed his departure at the club after the end of the 2022/23 season.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Kumi, expressed his gratitude to the club and his teammates who made his stay at the club memorable.
He wrote: ”I don’t even know where to start and what to write because a right comment for this post I don’t know if it exists and I never wanted to write it because we were all hoping for another ending.
”I leave by saying thank you, thank you for so many things, for making me part of this family, for making me live the most beautiful season of my life, for having met wonderful people like you and for all the great moments we spent together.
”This year has been a fantastic year we started as undefeated but with our strength every day we have shown everyone how much we are worth both as a team and as a family off the field in fact we managed to get into the top four teams of Italy which for everyone at the beginning of the championship It would have been unthinkable, for everyone but not for us because from the first day we saw each other we understood that there was something different almost magical in the air.”
The talented midfielder who has already represented Italy at the youth level, added that: ” It was a tough year we ate a lot of shit but we enjoyed a lot and all together for individual and team successes.
”I’m truly so sorry I wasn’t on the field with you at the most important moment of the season and you don’t know how much I suffered watching you play and not being able to help you like I always tried to do during the season because this was the moment we talked about every night together looking into our eyes and only dreaming about the day that would come but I have to tell you that you made me proud of you and the team we have become because you fought until the last second like a team actually a family can do so I can only say thank you. I love you all and you will always be in my heart.”
