Real Tamale United (RTU) players have made a strong statement by opting to boycott their training sessions leading up to the final match of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League against King Faisal, Sportsworldghana.com understands.
The crucial match is scheduled to take place on Sunday at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium. The players’ decision to abstain from training is a direct response to the longstanding issue of unpaid salaries.
The players have been owed three months’ worth of salaries from the previous 2021/22 season, which were left unpaid following a change in management.
The unresolved financial matter has understandably caused concern among the players, as they fear a similar situation may arise in the current season.
Furthermore, the Chief Executive Officer of Real Tamale United had assured the team that their salaries would be settled prior to their victorious match against Hearts of Oak. Despite their 2-1 win at the Accra Sports Stadium last weekend, the promised salaries remained unpaid.
Frustrated by the accumulation of unpaid wages and the disappointment of unfulfilled promises, the players of Real Tamale United have collectively decided to abstain from participating in the final game against King Faisal.
