Ghanaian defender David Oduro has expressed his excitement after joining FC Barcelona, where he is set to start his journey with the Spanish giants.
Oduro, who signed a contract with Barcelona until 2027, made the switch from Accra Lions in the Ghana Premier League this summer. The 18-year-old left-back was one of the standout performers in the league last season, attracting interest from top European clubs.
Following successful trials with both Chelsea and Barcelona, the Catalan club secured his signature.
In an interview with Sporty TV, Oduro shared his joy at joining the prestigious club: “I am very happy because getting this opportunity is not easy, especially coming from Ghana.”
He continued, “For me, I am very happy. It’s history for Ghana. Being the first player to move from here straight to Barcelona is great news for Ghana.”
Oduro will begin his career with Barcelona B, aiming to impress first-team manager Hansi Flick and potentially earn a spot with the senior team as the season progresses.
