Ghanaian forward Emmanuel Addai is on the verge of sealing a return to Belgian football, with OH Leuven closing in on his signing ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The 24-year-old is expected to complete the move in the coming days after choosing OH Leuven despite receiving interest from several clubs across Europe. Teams from Turkey, Czechia, Poland, Greece and Italy had all tracked the winger following the expiration of his contract with Azerbaijani champions Qarabag.
Addai becomes a free agent after ending a successful two-year spell with Qarabag, where he developed into one of the club’s most influential attacking players both domestically and in European competitions.
During the 2025/26 campaign, the Ghanaian featured in 10 UEFA Champions League matches, coming up against top sides including Chelsea, Liverpool and Newcastle United. He also scored in Qarabag’s 2-0 Champions League qualifying victory over FC Copenhagen.
Across all competitions last season, Addai recorded seven goals and four assists in 47 appearances, attracting widespread interest before OH Leuven emerged as the preferred destination.
A return to Belgium offers Addai the opportunity to continue his development in a familiar environment while boosting his prospects of securing a regular place in Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars.
