Berekum Chelsea’s Chief Executive, Obed Nana Nketia, has been fined GHC 20,000 by the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) Disciplinary Committee for his actions during a recent Ghana Premier League match against Asante Kotoko.
The 1-1 draw at Golden City Park was marred by tensions that escalated when Nana Nketia, along with a group of supporters, reportedly attempted to forcefully enter the match officials’ dressing room.
The Disciplinary Committee found Nketia guilty of assaulting a police officer and inciting fans against security personnel, further endangering the safety of both the officials and the security staff on duty.
The GHC 20,000 fine, which must be paid within 10 days, reflects the GFA’s efforts to address serious breaches of conduct and safeguard the well-being of all involved. The Committee has also warned Nketia that any future misconduct could result in stricter penalties.
This incident has cast a shadow over Berekum Chelsea’s season, with the club currently performing well and positioned fifth in the league table after nine matches. Neither the club nor Nana Nketia has issued a public response to the ruling.
