Following Berekum Chelsea’s loss to Samartex in matchday 26 of the Ghana Premier League, coach Samuel Boadu shared his thoughts on the outcome. The Bibires suffered defeat to the Timber Giants at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena on Sunday afternoon.
Samartex, currently leading the league standings, wasted no time in asserting their dominance, seizing early opportunities to maintain pressure on Chelsea. The breakthrough came from Samartex’s star player, Evans Osei Wusu, who scored two goals before halftime, giving his team a comfortable lead.
After halftime, both teams made adjustments to their tactics. Chelsea mounted a spirited comeback effort, with Stephen Amankona scoring a goal for Chelsea in the 72nd minute. However, Samartex quickly responded with a goal from Baba Hamadu Musa, extending their lead once again.
Despite a late surge from Chelsea, with Amankona finding the net again in the 79th minute, it wasn’t enough to overturn Samartex’s advantage. The final whistle secured victory for Samartex, allowing them to maintain their position at the top of the league standings.
Reflecting on the game, coach Boadu acknowledged the quality of play, stating, “It was a very good game. Tactically, we were disciplined throughout. Samartex dominated the first half, but we fought back in the second half. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to avoid defeat.”
Looking ahead, Berekum Chelsea will face reigning champions Medeama in matchday 26 of the Ghana Premier League. The upcoming fixture presents another opportunity for Chelsea to bounce back and improve their standing in the league.
