Asante Kotoko has unveiled the acquisition of Bernard Somuah from Afigya Liberty, finalizing a three-year agreement.
At just 17 years old, Somuah has already engaged in training sessions with the club and participated in three of the team’s four pre-season friendly matches. His integration into the Porcupine ranks was formalized following his successful completion of a medical assessment on Tuesday.
Having tallied an impressive 22 goals for his previous club last season, Somuah has rapidly established himself as a cherished figure among fans during his three appearances for Kotoko.
Prosper Narteh Ogum, filled with enthusiasm, welcomes the addition of this skillful goal threat to his squad as they prepare for the upcoming season. Dr. Ogum conveyed his positive outlook, stating, “He’s a brilliant player, and he has all the qualities of a modern-day winger,” Dr Ogum told scasantekotoko.com.
“He has hunger for goals, a vision to see the dangers around him, and use space.
Recognizing Somuah’s technical prowess, Dr. Ogum expressed confidence in the latent talent the club has secured. However, he emphasized the importance of maintaining discipline and encouraged supporters not to overly exaggerate expectations but rather offer their support, allowing the young player to grow and flourish.
“Somuah is technically gifted, and all he needs is to remain disciplined, and I am confident that Kotoko has gotten a real talent,” he noted.
With a plea for patience from the fans, Dr. Ogum envisages a promising future for Somuah, while emphasizing that his development will thrive with the backing of the team’s dedicated supporters.
“I will plead with the fans to have patience for him and not to overhype him, but to support him and see what the future holds for us.”
