Bibiani Goldstars FC faced further setbacks as they suffered their inaugural home defeat in the Ghana Premier League on a Sunday afternoon.
The Miners extended their winless streak to seven matches after narrowly losing 1-0 to newly-promoted Nations FC at Bibiani’s Dun’s Park.
Midfielder Barimah Baah secured Nations’ first away victory since their promotion, finding the net early in the 9th minute due to a defensive lapse.
Goldstars’ coach, Michael Osei, introduced changes to the lineup following their previous 3-0 loss to Aduana Stars. Richmond Opoku Manu replaced captain Yakubu Haqq, while Mawuli Wayo, Bernard Asare, and George Owusu earned their first starts.
Nations’ coach, Kassim Mingle Ocansey, also made strategic changes, bringing in Sadiq Alhassan, Amidou Diarra, and Ishmael Antwi for Razak Simpson, Asamoah Boateng, and Kelvin Ampoful.
Despite Goldstars’ efforts to stage a comeback in the second half, Nations’ solid defense held firm, securing a triumphant return to Kumasi.
Following Sunday’s defeat, Michael Osei’s team finds themselves in the relegation zone, while the newcomers, Nations FC, climb to the 9th position on the league standings.
