Black Galaxies coach Kassim Mingle has explained his decision to leave Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare out of recent training camps.

Mingle named a 20-man home-based Black Stars squad for a friendly against South Africa next Tuesday, again without the goalkeeper, sparking questions about the omission.

The former Nations FC coach said leaving out Asare is intentional. He wants other local goalkeepers to gain experience and prove their quality at national level.

“There’s no reason to keep calling Benjamin Asare to the Black Galaxies when he already has a spot in the Black Stars and has justified himself at that level,” Mingle said.

He added that several goalkeepers in the local league also deserve the chance to compete for national recognition. “It doesn’t make sense to invite him to the Galaxies again just to ‘justify’ himself,” Mingle told Sporty FM.

Mingle’s approach underscores a focus on talent development in the home-based setup, allowing emerging goalkeepers to showcase their ability and prepare for future national team roles.
