The Southern Sector Elite Academy, established through a partnership between the Football Association and Achimota School, has officially begun full operations, marking another significant milestone in the GFA’s nationwide elite youth development programme.

A delegation made up of Joseph Tetteh Zutah, Stuart McLaren; Michael Adu-Asare and Esme Mends visited Achimota School on Monday, December 8, to deliver essential training equipment.

The logistics package included 30 footballs, three sets of training jerseys, bibs, markers, cones, and two sets of official match-day kits—resources designed to support high-level technical training from the outset.

Seventeen players from the Greater Accra, Eastern, and Volta regions have been selected and officially enrolled into the academy, following a rigorous talent identification and assessment process.

The players have since begun intensive training under the guidance of FIFA Talent Coach Stuart McLaren and his assistant coaches, who are tasked with implementing the GFA’s modern development curriculum.

With the Southern Sector Academy now fully operational, all three GFA Elite Academies—Northern, Middle Belt and Southern—are active and functioning, completing the Football Association’s strategic plan to establish a unified national talent development structure.
