Ghana’s Black Maidens have advanced to the final round of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers after recording a convincing 2-0 victory over Liberia in the second leg, completing an impressive 8-0 aggregate win.

Entering the return fixture with a comfortable six-goal advantage from the first leg in Accra, the Black Maidens displayed composure and determination to secure another dominant result away from home.

Ghana asserted their authority from the opening stages of the match and broke the deadlock in the 15th minute through Seidatu Wahab. The early goal boosted the visitors’ confidence and allowed them to control possession while creating several attacking opportunities.

Despite Liberia’s efforts to respond and get back into the contest, Ghana’s well-organised defence remained resolute, preventing the hosts from creating any meaningful scoring chances.

The Black Maidens resumed the second half with the same level of intensity and extended their lead six minutes after the restart. Juliana Gyekyewaa found the net in the 51st minute, putting the tie beyond Liberia’s reach and further demonstrating Ghana’s dominance across both encounters.

The two-legged contest ended with the Black Maidens scoring eight goals and conceding none, underlining their strength in attack and discipline at the back. Their commanding performances throughout the qualifiers once again highlighted their status as one of the continent’s leading youth women’s football teams.

The coaching staff and players will be pleased with the professional approach they adopted in both matches, maintaining their concentration despite carrying a significant first-leg advantage into the return encounter.

Having successfully overcome the Liberian challenge, the Black Maidens will now shift their focus to the final qualifying round, where they will battle for a place at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup and seek to continue Ghana’s proud tradition on the international stage.

The emphatic aggregate victory sends a strong message to their future opponents as the young Ghanaian side moves a step closer to realising its World Cup ambition.
