Black Stars forward Brandon Thomas-Asante has described his Ghana journey as the fulfilment of a lifelong dream as the national team intensify preparations ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The Coventry City striker, who recently celebrated promotion to the English Premier League, says wearing the Black Stars jersey represents one of the proudest moments of his career after years of hard work, patience, and belief.

Currently with the squad in Cardiff ahead of Ghana’s international friendly against Wales, Thomas-Asante opened up on the emotional significance of representing the country of his roots on football’s biggest stage.

“It’s always the biggest privilege,” he said while reflecting on his rise to the Black Stars setup.

The 26-year-old revealed that playing for Ghana was something he had dreamed about from childhood, long before his emergence in English football.

“I think it’s something that, since I was young, when I was going to the games, I used to pray, believe and dream of achieving one day,” he added.

Thomas-Asante’s journey has been one of persistence and steady growth. After climbing through the ranks in England and earning recognition for his performances, he has now become part of a Ghana squad preparing for another World Cup campaign with renewed ambition under head coach Carlos Queiroz.

The striker admitted that finally being in camp with the Black Stars still feels surreal, especially with the World Cup fast approaching.

“Now, to be here is incredible. To be able to prepare for the World Cup is something that, as I say, I’ve been praying for since I was a child,” he stated.

Ghana are currently holding training sessions at Dragon Park in Wales as preparations continue for Tuesday’s friendly encounter. The camp has also welcomed several key arrivals including Lawrence Ati-Zigi, Kamal Deen Sulemana, and defender Abdul Mumin, increasing competition for places ahead of the final squad selection.

Despite the competition, the atmosphere within camp remains focused and determined as the Black Stars build towards the tournament in North America.

Ghana have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, Croatia, and England, setting up a challenging but exciting campaign for the four-time African champions.

For Thomas-Asante, however, the focus remains simple continue working hard, help the team succeed, and embrace every moment in a Black Stars shirt after years of dreaming about it.
