As part of their training tour in Cairo, Ghana’s U23 national football team, known as the Black Meteors, is reportedly preparing to face off against Egypt’s U23 national team in a friendly match.
Under the guidance of Coach Ibrahim Tanko, the team is scheduled to depart from Ghana on Monday, June 12, with a final squad selection following the initial announcement of a provisional 29-man squad.
The friendly match has been arranged to take place on Thursday, June 15, at the Alexandria Stadium.
Both teams view this encounter as an excellent opportunity to refine their strategies and tactics ahead of the upcoming 2023 U23 Africa Cup of Nations, set to be hosted in Morocco.
Egypt, being the defending champions from the previous 2019 edition, finds themselves placed in Group B for the tournament, alongside Mali, Gabon, and Niger.
Meanwhile, Ghana has been allocated to Group A, where they will compete against Congo, Guinea, and the host country, Morocco.
During their stay in Egypt, prior to heading to Morocco, the Black Meteors have planned to engage in several additional test matches to further enhance their preparations.
