Ghana advanced to the semifinals of the WAFU Zone B Women’s U-20 Cup of Nations after another convincing win in Group A on Saturday afternoon.
Yusif Baisigi’s team won all three points against Ivory Coast thanks to two goals from Maafia Nyame and one from Stella Nyamekye.
Nyame scored the game’s first goal in the 14th minute, connecting smartly with a cross from Wasima Mohammed to put the Black Princesses ahead.
Seven minutes later, the Faith Ladies striker assisted Stella Nyamekye for the game’s second goal, doubling Ghana’s lead.
The Ivorians scored eight minutes after the break, with Deperou Digbeu scoring off a rebound to give the home team a lifeline.
Maafia Nyame, on the contrary, showed up to foil any Ivory Coast comeback attempts, scoring her second and Ghana’s third goals to make it 3-1 and ensure victory for the Black Princesses.
The win sees Ghana finish top of Group A, three points above Benin, who they beat in their opening game last weekend.
