Ghana’s U20 women’s national team, the Black Princesses, played to a goalless draw against Mexico in an international friendly match as part of their preparations for the 2024 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.
The match, held at Centro Deportivo Choquenza in Bogotá, saw both teams, who have qualified for the upcoming World Cup in Colombia, test their readiness for the tournament. The Black Princesses started slowly but grew into the game as it progressed, creating several scoring opportunities alongside their Mexican counterparts.
Despite the chances, neither side could break the deadlock, resulting in a stalemate. The friendly served as an important tune-up for Coach Yussif Basigi’s squad as they gear up for the World Cup.
Ghana’s Black Princesses have been drawn into Group E, where they will face Austria, Japan, and New Zealand. Meanwhile, Mexico is in Group A with hosts Colombia, Cameroon, and Australia.
The match provided both teams with valuable experience ahead of the biennial competition set to take place in Colombia.
