Black Princesses will be ‘mentally’ ready for second leg against South Africa – Charles Sampson

Black Princesses head coach, Charles Sampson, says his team has no option than to go to South African and secure a win.

Ghana has an uphill task to qualify for the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup following their 2-2 draw with South Africa on Sunday.

The two teams played out a thrilling 2-2 draw at the Accra Sports Stadium in the first leg of the third round of qualifiers for the tournament to be staged in Poland later this year.

While the draw does not help the Black Princesses course, Sampson is confident his side has what it takes to go to South Africa for the reverse fixture and secure the needed result.

“Our aim is to qualify, and thankfully, the games are not only one. We have another game and this is only the first half of it,” he told the press after the game.

“They came and here got, maybe, what they wanted. Now, we have to go there and get what we want to be able to go further.

“We will do everything we can and make sure we go to Johannesburg and qualify to the next round.”

The Black Princesses will need to win against South Africa to advance to the final round of the qualifying series, where they could face either Zambia or Uganda.
