In the first leg of the Olympic Games qualifiers, the Black Queens of Ghana suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Zambia’s Copper Queens, prompting head coach Nora Hauptle to lament missed chances that could have altered the outcome.

Despite dominating possession and creating numerous scoring opportunities, Ghana’s women’s senior national team failed to find the back of the net in the showdown at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Following the disappointing result, Coach Hauptle praised her players’ performance but expressed regret over the inability to capitalize on their dominance, suggesting that the Black Queens could have secured victory by a significant margin on another day.

“In the first half, we couldn’t convert our possession into many chances. Normally, we should have won this game 3-1 or 4-1,” Hauptle remarked in a post-match interview, highlighting the team’s potential for a more favorable outcome.

With the second leg of the tie looming next week, Coach Hauptle is focused on rectifying their missed opportunities and turning the tide when the Black Queens travel to Zambia for the reverse fixture on Wednesday, February 28.
