The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the procedures for the draw of the 2025 African Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON), scheduled to take place on Friday at the Mohammed VI Complex in Morocco.
The Black Queens of Ghana have been seeded in Level 2 for the draw, which will determine the groupings for the tournament. According to CAF, the 12 participating teams have been divided into four levels based on the latest FIFA rankings.
Seedings for AWCON 2025:
Level 1: Morocco (host), Nigeria, South Africa
Level 2: Zambia, Ghana, Tunisia
Level 3: Mali, Senegal, Algeria
Level 4: DR Congo, Tanzania, Botswana
As the host nation, Morocco will lead Group A, while defending champions South Africa will head Group C. Nigeria, a dominant force in African women’s football, will spearhead Group B. The remaining teams will be drawn into these groups to complete the tournament lineup.
