Asante Kotoko head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has acknowledged his team’s struggles in the ongoing Ghana Premier League campaign and has pledged to address the issues.
The Porcupine Warriors are enduring a tough spell, failing to win any of their last five matches. They have suffered four defeats and managed only one draw in this stretch. Over the weekend, their woes deepened after a 2-0 loss to regional rivals Nations FC at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.
“There are more games to be played, so we still stand by our purpose,” Ogum said. “It’s all about finding solutions to what exactly the problem is, and once we are able to find solutions, we will be good to go.”
He pointed out defensive lapses as a major concern for the team. “Look at the goals we’ve been giving away. These are not goals that opponents worked for. We have been conceding cheap goals, and some of these goals sometimes discourage you,” he explained.
Kotoko, currently sitting 8th on the league table with 15 points, will face a stern test this weekend when they travel to meet Aduana Stars in what promises to be a challenging encounter. Following that, they will take on their archrivals Hearts of Oak in a much-anticipated clash.
Ogum remains optimistic about turning the team’s fortunes around and is determined to restore the club’s competitive edge in the league.
