Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has backed Ghana’s U20 team, the Black Satellites, to shine at the upcoming 2025 U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt, expressing strong belief in their potential and readiness.

The tournament is set to take place from April 27 to May 18, 2025, with Ghana drawn in Group C alongside Senegal, DR Congo, and the Central African Republic. As four-time champions of the competition, the Black Satellites are determined to add a fifth title to their name.

Addressing the team before their departure for Egypt, Otto Addo delivered a powerful message of encouragement, urging the young players to believe in their abilities and stay focused.

“Everybody’s looking up to you to give everything. I know that you have what it takes to beat every team,” he told the squad.

He went on to highlight the strength of the technical team and the importance of self-belief: “You have a good staff around you, a good coach. So, anything is possible. You have to believe in yourself. We’ll pray for you, and I know you’ll do it.”

Acknowledging the challenges ahead, Addo also reminded the players to stay disciplined and trust the guidance of their coaches.

“I know it’s going to be tough. Everyone knows it’s not easy. You have tough opponents, but believe in yourself, listen to your coaches, and then you’ll fulfill everything.”

The Black Satellites, who previously lifted the U20 AFCON trophy in 1993, 1999, 2009, and 2021, head into the tournament with a rich legacy behind them. Ghana also holds the unique distinction of being the only African nation to win the FIFA U-20 World Cup, a title they famously secured in Egypt in 2009.
