Ghana’s Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif, has revealed the plans for utilizing the money received from FIFA as prize money for the Black Stars’ participation in the 2022 World Cup.

The Black Stars were one of the five African countries that competed in the prestigious soccer tournament in Qatar last December. Unfortunately, Ghana experienced an early exit from the competition, failing to progress to the Round of 16. Portugal and Uruguay were the teams that advanced to the next stage, leaving the West African powerhouse behind.

Confirming the receipt of the World Cup money, Mustapha Ussif stated that the funds earned from the tournament would be allocated for the benefit of the Black Stars and infrastructural development.

“The GFA has written to the Ministry that FIFA has transferred the prize money of the 2022 World Cup to the FA”

In this way, the funds received from FIFA will be used to support the national team and contribute to the improvement of sports facilities in the country, with a focus on enhancing the infrastructure at Prampram.

“We are just about going to AFCON. We also want to improve some sports infrastructure. The FA has written to us that they want to improve the infrastructure at Prampram”
