Veteran Ghanaian coach J.E Sarpong has encouraged the Black Stars technical leadership to call up just the country’s best available players for next month’s 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers play-off double-legged tie against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
“Ghana vs Nigeria game is just like Hearts of Oak vs Asante Kotoko,” he told Oyerepa FM in Kumasi.
“We need to approach the match with all the best materials available. Players playing in top leagues with good form should be those invited for the two-leg tie. No agency call-ups,” he added.
Ghana and Nigeria face off in late March in the playoffs of the 2022 FIFA World Cup scheduled for Qatar.
Black Stars will first host the Super Eagles in Cape Coast before travelling to Abuja for the second leg.
The winner of the two-legged tie will join four other African countries to represent the continent at the global showpiece.
Black Stars are hoping to make a return to the Mundial after missing the 2018 edition in Russia.
