Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has expressed his eagerness to watch Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak in action before making any predictions about the potential winner of the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League (GPL).
Addo, who has already singled out Medeama SC and FC Samartex as early title contenders, believes a closer assessment of all the top teams is necessary before he makes a definitive call.
Speaking after Medeama’s narrow 1-0 victory over Legon Cities, Addo noted that both Medeama and Samartex had shown strong form but emphasized the need to see more from the league’s other heavyweights.
“From what I saw from Medeama and Samartex, they are doing well. So maybe it’s among these two, but I haven’t seen all the matches,” Addo explained. “I’m eager to watch Kotoko, Hearts of Oak, and the other good teams, and then we’ll see.”
The Black Stars coach also hinted at attending more GPL matches to scout local talent, with a keen interest in identifying players who could be future national team prospects.
Although Addo refrained from making a final prediction, he acknowledged the competitive nature of the GPL this season, stating: “At the moment, I can’t make any statement about who will win the league.”
Meanwhile, Addo’s attention will soon shift to a crucial doubleheader against Sudan in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, as Ghana looks to recover from a disappointing start after securing just one point from their first two games.
