Ghana’s national football team, the Black Stars, will face a stern test in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers as they have been drawn alongside Sudan, coached by former Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah, in Group F.
The Black Stars will have to overcome a tough group that also includes Angola and Niger. However, the biggest challenge lies in their encounters with Sudan, coached by the experienced Kwesi Appiah, who has led the Sudanese team to an impressive unbeaten streak in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Sudan currently tops a group that includes heavyweights like Senegal and D.R. Congo.
Kwesi Appiah’s appointment as Sudan’s coach in 2023 has raised eyebrows, given his rich history with Ghana. As a former player and coach of the Black Stars, Appiah knows the Ghanaian team well and will be looking to exploit any weaknesses he identifies.
Ghana is currently led by Otto Addo, another former player and current coach of the Black Stars. Addo will be hoping to qualify the country for the 2025 AFCON, which will be hosted in Morocco from December to January.
The tournament promises to be an exciting one, with several top African teams vying for a spot on the coveted podium.
