Dreams FC coach Abdul Karim Zito has commended Black Stars head coach Otto Addo, describing him as both a strict disciplinarian and a skilled tactician. Zito made these comments as Ghana prepares for their final matches in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Angola and Niger.
Though the Black Stars have faced challenges in the qualifiers, Zito, a highly experienced Ghanaian coach, spoke positively of Addo’s approach and dedication, highlighting the former Borussia Dortmund talent coach’s disciplined style.
“This coach you see, nobody can divert his course,” Zito told Citi Sports. “I like him for one, he’s very disciplined and then very tactical. What he wants to do is what he did.”
Zito emphasized that the team’s players need to seize the opportunity to perform well if Addo offers them the chance. “To me, I’m very happy,” he added. “They only have, if he gives them the opportunity, they only have to play well so that they give another opportunity to the rest of Africans.”
Reflecting on the differences between Europe and Africa in player development, Zito noted the challenges African players face in gaining opportunities.
“Because seriously, when you are in Europe, looking at what Europeans are doing, and then you come to Africa, it will be very difficult for you to come in for a local player,” he remarked.
