Ghanaian winger Francis Amuzu was among the scorers as Gremio delivered a dominant 3–0 away victory over Deportivo Riestra in their Copa Sudamericana group-stage clash.
The Brazilian side started strongly and took control of the match after earning a first-half penalty, which Carlos Vinícius confidently converted around the 30-minute mark to put Gremio ahead.
From that moment, the visitors dictated the tempo, limiting Deportivo Riestra to very few attacking opportunities despite the home team’s energetic start.After sustained pressure and disciplined defending, Gremio doubled their lead just before the hour mark.

Amuzu made a well-timed run and calmly finished off a precise pass from Gabriel Mec in the 59th minute, further tightening Gremio’s grip on the match.Deportivo Riestra struggled to respond, managing only a single shot on target as Gremio remained compact at the back and dangerous on the counterattack.
Their superiority was confirmed in the 73rd minute when substitute Martin Braithwaite added the third goal, finishing off a well-worked move assisted by Cristian Pavón.The convincing win strengthens Gremio’s position in Group F as they continue their push for qualification to the knockout stages.
The team will now shift focus back to domestic action, where they are scheduled to face Flamengo on Sunday, May 10, in a highly anticipated Serie A encounter.
Amuzu, however, expressed his excitement after hitting the back of the net and also helping his team to clinch vital three points from their away fixture.
