In response to the recent hooliganism during the Premier League match between Bofoakwa Tano FC and Nsoatreman FC, the Ghana Football Association’s Disciplinary Committee (DC) has asserted its authority by imposing significant penalties on Bofoakwa Tano.
Bofoakwa Tano has been handed a three-match home ban and a substantial GHS20,000 fine, reflecting the severity of what the committee identified as “various degrees of misconduct” during the intense clash at the Sunyani Coronation Park.
The charges against Bofoakwa Tano FC include breaches of Article 16(1)(c), Article 16(2)(b), Article 16(2)(a), and Article 16(2)(f) during the mentioned match. After thorough consideration of the team’s defense, evidence, and match recordings, Bofoakwa Tano FC was found guilty on all counts and received the appropriate sanctions.
The DC also mandated the GFA to provide financial support to Coach Maxwell Konadu of Nsoatreman FC and Referee Robert Musey, both of whom were attacked by officials and supporters of Bofoakwa Tano FC.
Specifically, officials of Bofoakwa Tano FC, including Ernest Adu (Massage Therapist), Abubakari Mohammed (Team Manager), Isaac Tannor (Physiotherapist), and Seidu Manan (Welfare Manager), have each been handed match bans and fines of GHc2000 for physically assaulting match officials during the match.
Furthermore, player Bright Boakye has received a two-match ban with immediate effect and a fine of GHc2000 for violating Article 12(1)(i) and Article 12(1)(k) of the GFA Disciplinary Code, 2019.
