Asante Kotoko has announced the departure of head coach Seydou Zerbo, a day after the team’s 2-0 defeat to Medeama at the Baba Yara Stadium in the Ghana Premier League (GPL).
Abdulai Gazale, the Youth Team coach, will take over as interim coach.
Zerbo joined the Porcupines in August 2022, replacing Prosper Narteh Ogum, who was also sacked.
He is the fifth coach to be sacked under the tenure of Nana Yaw Amponsah, joining Maxwell Konadu, Johnson Smith, Mariano Barreto, and Prosper Narteh Ogum as the list of casualties at the Kumasi based club in the last three years.
Zerbo, who joined Asante Kotoko on a one-year contract with an option of a year renewal in August last year, recorded eight victories, seven drawn games and suffered five defeats in the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season.
Asante Kotoko currently occupies seventh position on the Ghana Premier League log with 34 points after match-week 23.
